Ultramarines 2nd Company - NO Special Characters!!!

HQ 1:
Terminator Librarian with Stormbolter (upgraded to use 2 powers per turn)
Powers:
Void of Doom - range 12" Str 10 AP1 Blast (can you say OUCH!)
Gate of Infinity - allows him and his squad to teleport 24" around the board each movement phase.

HQ 2:
Jump-pack Chappy with boltpistol (cause I love that model)

Elite 1:
Terminator Squad with Ass-cannon (librarian here)

Elite 2:
Dreadnaught with Ass-cannon and Missile launcher

Troop 1:
10 man Tac squad with Flamer and Multi-melta
Rhino with EA

Troop 2:
10 man Tac squad with Flamer and Multi-melta
Rhino with EA

Troop 3:
10 man Tac squad with Melta and Missile Launcher

Troop 4:
10 man Tac squad with Melta and Missile Launcher

Fast 1:
5 man Assault squad with flamer/ Sgt with Powerfist and Combat shield (Chappy here)

Heavy 1:
Predator with Auto-cannon and Heavybolters

Heavy 2:
Devastator squad with 4 Heavybolters

Heavy 3:
Devastor squad with 4 Plasma-cannons

Obviously this is a very shooty list. Chappy will handle anything that gets close and the Librarian will port around the board destroying stuff. I thought about bringing a Special Character, but I just feel they get abused too much (Vulcan can suck it!!!).

  1. Damn that's a lot of SMurfs.

This list scares me even without Calgar, Kantor, or Vulkan.

As long as you can keep your squads seperated this would scare the poop out of me. I think if I could charge 2 of your Tac squads at a time, I could do alot of damage tho.

You can pop out of the Rhino and shoot the multimelta right? That pretty scary. 12 inches of double penetration action right there!

Would you put the Librarian solo or with one of the Tac Squads? Perhaps with the Termies? I'm just thinking that the Gate ability may be a bit wasted it you don't have a "plan" for it.

The most important question is, do you have the minis to play it?

    Butt Head says:

The plan is for your units to never make to assault range and the Multimelta can be shot from inside the Rhino as long as it hasn't moved.

The Librarian is with the Termies, porting them around the board 24" a turn.

And Yes, I have the models and am finishing painting them this weekend..

    Jwolf says:

Giving the Librarian some TH/SS Terminators gives you more bang for the buck. Those guys kill just about anything they can get their hands on, and GoI lets them get there.

Consider dropping points elsewhere and getting a couple of Drop Pods with Teleport Homers for those Tactials on foot (and maybe the Devs as well - they never ride in the pods, but the pods are good in and of themselves). They don't have to go in the pods, but having the Homers on the board to let the Librarian go exactly where he wants is certainly worth it.

Also consider going with the Multi-Melta / Heavy Flamer (extra armor) Dreadnought and putting that in a Drop Pod as well. Being able to land one of those on Guard / Eldar / Tau / Orcs on turn 1 is pretty awesome.

    Butt Head says:

For right now, this list is made up of what I have on hand. I want to get everything painted before moving on to buying more models, but I agree with everything you suggested.

    Jwolf says:

Made up of what you have on is the best place to start; I have units in my CSM that I expected to replace but have grown to love (Possessed) and people are actually starting to use them as well; never underestimate being Fearless with a 5++ save for survivabilty.

If you use GoI, the unit that pops around, can't assault that turn can they? I'd be afraid they'd get shot to shit, although with TH/SS they can take a fair bit of fire, and that would be fire that wasn't directed elsewhere I guess.

I really like the sneaky idea of pods without troops. That lets you lay down the homers without fear of losing the dudes inside to a mishap (although they are much safer in a pod than they are without).

    Butt Head says:

No they can't assault, but that's why I think the regular termies will work better because I can still lay down some fire power (4 storm-bolters and the ass-cannon), plus if they are within 12" of an enemy, the VoD will really put a hurting on someone. Plus, they are Terminators. The other sneaky thing to do is stick the Librarian in a unit of Sternguard Vets, porting them away from units trying to assault..
